about me
Welcome! I’m Davina, a therapist born, raised, and practicing in Los Angeles, CA. As a child of immigrants, I know how tough it can be to navigate between cultures and seek support, especially when that wasn’t modeled to you. I was a shy kid who grew into a “troubled teen,” finding relief from what I now recognize as depression and anxiety in not-so-healthy ways. It wasn’t until a college Adolescent Psychology course—learning about the messy search for identity and independence—that I finally started making sense of my own emotions. After earning my BA in Psychology from UC Irvine, I started therapy myself and experienced firsthand how powerful it is to connect with our minds and bodies to meet our needs in ways that align with our values and goals. That transformation inspired me to pursue a career in the helping profession, leading me to Seattle, where I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Washington and worked with people navigating poverty, intimate partner violence, and homelessness. Through that work, I saw how deeply our identities and the systems around us shape our experiences—and how reclaiming our power starts with understanding these influences.
I also learned I’m not built for cold weather. Back in the sunshine state, I treated high-acuity mood and anxiety disorders at a Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Program, working with teens struggling with self-harm and suicidal thoughts, young adults navigating major life transitions, and adults healing from complex trauma. This experience deepened my understanding of the complexities of mental health across diverse populations, sharpened my clinical skills, and reinforced my confidence in connecting with a wide range of clients. When I’m not in sessions, you might find me at the beach, exploring new coffee and boba spots, making a mess in pottery classes, or listening to a true crime podcast while running errands.
